THE Elections Office is analysing data of about half-a-million Fijians who registered during the first phase of electronic voter registration.
This will allow it to "cleanse" the voter list and ensure accurate voter information is recorded and also note duplicate and fraudulent entries.
Permanent secretary Electoral Reforms Mere Vuniwaqa said in a statement yesterday that about 30 registration clerks had been trained to carry out the process.
She said this exercise would result in a clean voter list and clear understanding of the "distribution and demographics" of registration so far, in order to better care for specific needs during the second phase of registration.
"One of the clerks' major responsibilities is to examine the voter list to locate entries with similar or identical voter information," Mrs Vuniwaqa said.
"Such cases usually indicate that an individual has registered more than once."
