The eight weeks EVR process is just a target by government to register over 600,000 eligible Fijians in the country.

The Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says they will be working in registering Fijians who reside overseas in the coming months.

“Eight weeks was only a target. Those who will not register in this time frame will have time to do so. We aim to register 660,000 Fijians. There are those who are genuinely not able to register so there will be teams who will be deployed to these areas to get them registered."

Bainimarama says they are happy with the response from the people.

“We are very happy with the response so far and we are looking forward to seeing all Fijians registered. It’s also encouraging to see that many of Fiji’s youths are registering. Once this is complete than we will be looking at Fijians residing overseas to register at their nearest embassy. In the coming months that we will be advising them on this process.”

A total of 96,404 people have been registered since the electronic voter registration process began three weeks ago.
