Fijian exile criticises NZ for easing sanctions

A former senior army officer in Fiji who fled to Tonga last year has criticised the New Zealand and Australian governments for easing sanctions on Fiji.
Last week, Wellington and Canberra announced a resumption of diplomatic relations and lighter sanctions on people associated with the government led by Commodore Frank Bainimarama.
Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara says both governments' friendliness towards the regime is in stark contrast to their former principled stance.
He says they have been taken in by the consultation over a new constitution in Fiji, which he calls a charade.
Ratu Tevita says the regime remains untrustworthy and nothing has changed.\
