The School Management Association is requesting the government to make school items tax and VAT free.
Association President Govind Singh says this move to ensure that students are given quality education.
Singh says cost of living is high and some families are finding it difficult to buy the basic school items.
“Particularly teaching and learning resources and particularly the price of technical equipments such as computers are quite high and most of schools are struggling to provide equipments to the schools for smooth running of the school and in terms of delivery of the quality education to the students.”The Education Ministry is expected to comment soon.
