BREAKING NEWS: Roko Ului to become Fiji Vice President?

It appears Lieutenant-Colonel Roko Tevita Uluilakeba (Roko Ului) is preparing to take up the vice presidency.

Intelligentsiya has learned that Roko Ului (pictured in Fiji Times image) has resigned from the military forces. His wife also reportedly resigned for her post at the Ministry of Health.

The pair has reportedly taken a government vessel to Lakeba in Lau and Roko Ului may be sworn in soon.

Roko Ului, a son of the late Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara who was considered Fiji’s last great statesman, is a member of the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC).

During the GCC meeting in December when chiefs discussed what position to take on the military coup, Roko Ului, notably, voiced dissenting opinion to that of the majority of the chiefs.

While most chiefs were opposed to any sort of recognition of the military having seized executive control of the country – and of the claim to the presidency by Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama – he maintained the military held the power and that Bainimarama was indeed president.

At present the vice presidency is vacant after Bainimarama unceremoniously removed Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi, the Bau high chief and distinguished lawyer, supposedly after he refused to support the army's December 5 takeover and, before that, for refusing to advise President Ratu Josefa Iloilo to dissolve parliament and declare a state of emergency, which presumably the military wanted done.

Wow! If this is true, it's the whole Mara thingy again now...I just have two questions for Roko Ului - do you have the package to take the job? Do you really think you are entitled to the position? Good luck Kemuni!

Good to hear fiji is progressing now and getting competent people on board. Qarase and his cronies where corrupt people who all should be sent to nukulau.

Well Done Franks and RFMF

I wonder what Integentcia is saying about the MySAP ripoff at NLTB or the audit?
Was this audit good for Fiji?

Why didn't SDL or Qarase investigate the case(s)?

RE:The issue of Suva landowners and their claim.

Why didn't NLTB pursue these claims, if they were really looking after the landowner's interests?

Good to hear Fiji Progressing!!! Excuse me but are you stupid...ops sorry for asking you that, the obvious speaks for itself!!!

Fiji, man, Im honestly lost for words...you think during this time our CHIEFS would stand up for us common people but unfortunately "the apple does fall very far from its tree" Ului if your trying to make your name, this is not the way, from one lauan to another...this is not the way...Supporting something that is illegal. Im ashamed to say that Im lauan, we might as well undergo another tabu for what your doing....

Perhaps one day we will have a coup against you CHIEFS who do nothing for the common people

If there is anybody that should go to prison or nukulau, it should be Bainimarama, Leweni, Driti, Ului, Chaduray the bastard!!! Liumuri the bugger...and attorney general...speaking of which who is he, Im born and bread for the past 30 years in fiji and have only heard of this Simple-ton once or twice...whats his qualification...o wait I should say how far does he bend over to bainimarama...Bainimarama's bitch

He definitely does not have the package and his father wld be turning in his grave at his actions. Like a Laun said recently .. 'Never mind asking what the Mara children have done for Fiji - they have done nothing for Lau.'
The apple falls so far away from the tree in this case that its hard to fathom how a half-educated military officer can think to replace one of the most qualified lawyers of this country as VP. If this is not a fascist state we are living in .. i dont know what is.
Military PM, Military Health Minister, Military Immigration Boss, Military President, Military VP.. and the list will go on for some time yet...
We can talk all we want about Qarase and the corruption allegations that even Ayaz Khaiyum has admitted on TV ... they havnt got evidence for.
But ... in the case of the VP .... you only have to see who this Mara sibling is replacing.... do they compare?
Rt. Joni Madraiwiwi Vs Roko Ului ..... Not by far

i'm not surprised as to just who is taking up all these positions in this illegal government !
Is this potentially the beginning of the end for the GCC ?

From another lauan to another above...I respect my chiefs as much as the next grog dopped fijian but Ratu Ului has done nothing for his own people...NOTHING!!!...and he wants to go run the country as VP

if your trying to restore your familys honor...guess what, you just ran it into the ground...there is no honour in civil abuse, military brutality, violence against women, talking cheap to other countries etc...

Be very careful people, na sau ni vanua...dont touch titles that dont belong to you. There are always concequences from the vanua that deal with those disobey the order of things

Another Lauan

If he is appointed, and I hope for Fijis' sake he is not, how long will it be before Iloilo is 'retired' by the powers that be and we have a real Miltitary Dictatorship.
This will be a real test of strength for the GCC. Will they be able to handle it?

Yep end of GCC, so their new complex can be seized. As you know the 20million was stolen from Govt. coffers.

What a joke! But just wait and see people, soon after this the Puppet President will resign and Ratu Uli will take over... Then it will be a complete Military rule.
It is time we stood up.. can't leave it too long. Our children will be the ones to suffer if we don't make a stand now.

In reply to the last comment , I think I advised you all to stand up at the beginning of this coup .
A bit late now i think ! But not too late to pay attention for next time .

it is never too late to do something useful for a just cause.
better to be late then to not at all.

Never too late to highlight the double standard of these experts of democracy.

Race based elections should be the whipping post. Not FB or the clean up campaign.

I just want to tell all you negative people out there i think that Roko Ului will be very good for the job and he is a great and very intelligent person. I think that we should give him a chance before saying negative things about him. And as for Bainimarama i think that he has done a great job. And those of you who Question what the Maras have done for Lau. I have a question for you. What have you done for your Koro?

Anonymous said...

Wow..just reading this comment by annonymous who is standing up for the Mara's and asking us what we have done for our Koro's.Well lady or sir, we have done plenty and we dont even bear a Ratu or Adi as a prefix to our name....and guess what we managed to do all that too without having to get some gun toting idiot to hand it us on a silver platter.
My Thoughts!

If this is true - then I gues the Marcos of the Pacific (Mara family) will be a liitle harder to get rid off. If you have two brothers in law who were once heading the army and the last one actually put in his BITCH for the top jhob over many more decorated and colorful gentlemen - the question is - what should we do to amke sure that VB sees this as what it is CORRUPTION in the highest degree.
