Ana, this is great, can you also please create a clip who shows that affirmative action is discriminatory, that racial discrimination is unaccepted, that divisive policies similar to the ones by SDL.

So where are you now Ana? Come back to Fiji and then only talk about Fiji's issues. You a foreigner now, so stay out of our business.

What trumped up propaganda..as bad as the military.

nice clip if you were living in Fiji....otherwise just worry about your new country and stop wasting our time with this crappy Video. If you have left Fiji you're a bloody traitor just like Frank, you don't fiji in your heart...so pliz get your sorry ass video outa here. The voices of the kids at the beginging gave u away, white kids.....

This is a great clip and it is very relevant to our situation. Whether or not the video maker is living in Fiji is NOT relevant and very much besides the point. The point is that our rights are being abused by the dictator Bainimarama, the rest of the gun-toting military, the IG and all those who support the autrocities that the coup has inflicted on our lives and the lives of our children.

To anon 08 May 2007 17:36, you might want to make that video yourself...If you had thought of that earlier and pssed it on the the coup makers to raise awareness against these issues, it would not have cost us as much as we have lost so far. The coup to "end all coups", "get rid of racial discrimination and affirmative action" etc is, in fact, achieving exactly the opposite.

To anon May 9 9.30, you committed your time when you logged on to this site. Why are you lamenting the loss of your precious time when there are other bigger losses that we should be lamenting like the loss of our young people's lives like that of Nimilote and Saki?

Thanks Ana...more please and thanks Intelligentsiya...you're doing a great job here in Fiji and overseas!

This video clip is very unprofessional and undemocratic. Can we show some respect to our interim PM.

what rubbish...a CHILDISH set up video..bit like paedophilia using innocent children to promote your own political ends...despicable ......where were all the intelligentysia pre-bainimarama coup....when Indians were second class citizens...didn't children have a rough go then??

Anonymous said...

I thought it was OK...but thank for doing that Ana. It would have been more powerful if you actually had children being interviewed - ie voice interviews...maybe the next one you do can include that and also interviews from women as well....it is usually the women and the children that the first victims of conflict. Already have reports on that...it'll be god to get their stories. Thanks again and look fowrard to the next one!!

Ok, I hate to have to overly moderate comments but some commenters have gone seriously off track and are now accusing Intelligentsiya of being racist. We are a group of democratic libertarians of various races and would never ever condone racism on this blog.

We despise racism as much as military coups and violence. There may have been some comments that have slipped through that could be deemed racist, but these were never authored by any of the Intelligentsiya bloggers. Please show us one blog posting that has racist comments and we will delete it and apologise. Otherwise, don't try to hijack our blog and create issues when there are none.

Intelligentsiya has always been about freedom for Fiji and we will continue our non-violent protest for a truly free Fiji.

Vinaka, Shukria, Peace.

firstly, to Ana from Saki's family thank you very much for remembering saki...secondly, to the intellies keep up the good work and keep the your heads up....now, who is the traitor here? the one that has moved abroad insearch of a better life in return suporting their families back home or the one that is hurting the citizens of FIJI...!!!
dont forget those supporting him coz what goes up must come down and for Bainimuna it will come down hard....
we maybe living abroad but there's one thing FIJI follows in our blood
when you say child abuse what about Saki only 19...a student...
Lastly, it is us the people living abroad who are the faces of FIJI not the ones you put on TV...who do you think answers the questions the foreigners ask????
Finally, to all, please remember your mums this mothers day and give them a hug and a kiss and just say thank you from your heart and to saki's mum thank you and may god bless you this mothers day.

Can this video be dowloaded to us low bandwidth users, so that we can download and see the video?

Good work Ana, I thought it was a very relevant video and the thoughts are ours as well as our childrens. To those knocking the video I'm sure you can create your own, sound like haters to me. And also those knocking people who have gone overseas, please check the amount of money coming in to the economy through us overseas workers before you judge on what we're doing for the country, it might be we're doing more good than you. Anyway, detracting from the main topic which is resistance of the coup, we all have our ways of resisting and I think Ana did great.

To Anon @ 13.48: Respect? Tell me u're kidding?! Why don't you ask Vore to respect our Constitution first?!

The Constitution is not just a piece of paper to be paid lip-service to; it is a living document and is the highest law of our land! Everything Vore & cronies hve done todate & will continue to do in the immediate foreseeable future has made a mockery of our Constitution.

Respect is earned, not demanded.. and noting the increasing volume of opposition albeit anti-coup blogs like this one, against this ILLEGAL interim administration and the criminal thugs in green who support it, clearly shows that Vore has not an ounce of respect from the SILENCED MAJORITY ... except probably from people like you who are in for your individual vested interests!

To Anon @ 14.16: I see that u've had trouble swallowing your bitter pill for yr inferiority complex! Get some counselling ..I hear it works..

How many times do bloggers hve to tell you that "TWO WRONGS DON'T MAKE A RIGHT"!! A coup is a coup is a coup is a coup............AND ITS ILLEGAL, CRIMINAL AND UNCONSTITUTIONAL! Get that?

By the way, paedophiles devour children, not use them for a promotion! What an ass!

To Anon at 14:16

The web blog wasn't even something that was conceived in its current form. Back then you had to form your own website which was an issue if web design wasn't your forte. It was hard to stand up to people back in 2000 because you couldn't say something without being found out (which was easy) and beaten up. Now anonymity is the name of the game. If you're not anonymous, you get hauled up to barracks for a talking to.

To Anon at 13:48

Undemocratic? Respect for the Ko Man Da? Why is the clip undemocratic and yet you say we should show some respect to the Interim PM who overthrew a democratically elected government. Hypocrisy abounds.

The anti-Ana comments seem so to be borrowed from the same template... Wonder what the anti-rfc-admin caper is up to these days...

Keep it up Ana, regardless of what these anon idiots say about your location etc.

Your work is appreciated and treasured by the humane part of Fiji. It made it to intelligentsiya didn't it!

To Anon 10/5@13:22...you seem to have trouble understanding the english language...devour means to eat or consume...only relevant to paedophilia if the sexual acts engaged in can be described in slang as 'eating'. However the similarity between the video and paedophilia is that they both USE innocent children (a form of ABUSE) ...one for sexual gratification and the other for shameless political exploitation.

Anonymous said...

Wailei to Anon @ 18.01! This is Anon @ 13.22 here.. I meant 'devour' of children in the figurative sense..Oilei! O cei o iko to teach me some english, i first learnt the damn language when i started Class 1! Osobo!

But I agree with yr last 4 lines:)

Good work. Ana has a promising future making B-Rate movies for the rest of her life. Our problems are our own and this site is doing it's best to ensure our local children are not exposed in any derogatory manner whether it is through blogs or movies.

Ana would be a great hit on the RFC site where our children are tampled on and false reporting is the order of the day.

I am an Indo-Fijian living in Fiji and I think such movies don't go well with this sites attempts to help our country move forward. Perhaps the site could consider moving it to another blog or delete it altogether?

Keep up the great work Intelligentsiya. I've always admired your neutral reporting and accurate information!!!

Kindest Regards,
Anand Pillay

attack is the best form of defense.
anyone who attacks this video effort and the message it is trying to convey is either living in denial, or has a vested interest in this coup . just remember though , that despite your foolish attempts to continually justify murder , kidnappings , illegal detentions , abuse etc . the reality is that what has happened since december 2006 , is simply illegal . all the people involved in that act. and the many transgressions of the law since , will be held accountable , someday !
you can sit there , protected by the military or the illegal government for now , but when the time comes , the court will decide what is appropriate behaviour in a modern civilised community , not you nor I . please consider , that perhaps the coup was a mistake or the wrong way to achieve your goals , whatever they were and are . consider that it's not too late to lay down your arms and return to the barracks , the time is coming for someone to take a stand . let's hope there's no further blood shed .
