Fiji has signed up to supply medicine and medical equipment to about eight Pacific Island countries.
The Fiji Pharmaceutical Services has made the deal with countries including Nauru, Tuvalu and Kiribati.
Nauru’s High Commissioner to Fiji Jarden Kephas says our ability to source medicine has seen neighboring countries like them turn to Fiji for help.
“Nauru, in the past we used to look towards Australia and because of the funding and economy, we see that Fiji is just as good as Australia but a lot cheaper. We used to refer our patients to Australia but now to Fiji”.
Earlier this month, the FPS announced a profit of 434- thousand dollars in its Bulk Purchase Scheme.
A new warehouse at Vatuwaqa in Suva was also opened yesterday in the presence of the High Commissioners of Tuvalu, Nauru and Kiribati.
