ALL of this year's Hibiscus contestants, including lady and teen contestants, paid a visit to the Queen Elizabeth Barracks yesterday morning to spend some time with Fiji's military officers.
The contestants got the chance to meet the officers, learn what they do on a daily basis and some even got to learn a few gun tricks with some of the military machinery. Also present at the event was reigning Miss Hibiscus Drue Slatter, who said the morning tea was a great start to the day for all the contestants.
"They were really accommodating, they explained what they do for a living, they put on some displays, showed some of the contestants their weapons and tactics. It was all really good fun," Miss Slatter said.
"I think the queens really enjoyed this visit, they were particularly impressed by the band and the martial arts display."
Lady Central Cuisine Restaurant contestant Sera Savou said she admired the work of the military force.
"Once we learned what they do, I would say they are doing a really great job for Fiji," Mrs Savou said.
She said she mainly enjoyed learning about the different parts of certain guns.
