The Government aims to register another 100-thousand Fijians before the 2014 elections.
Elections Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says they’re looking at other avenues to register these people especially Fijians living abroad.
“620,000 Fijians are eligible to register. So far we have registered 505,000 and of course there are some overseas that will give in some more figures in terms of filling the gap between 505,000 and 620,000. But there still some people who are yet to turn 18 and our estimates show that they will make up a significant proportion of that, so all that need to be carried out”.
Sayed-Khaiyum launched the elections office website yesterday which would be one avenue for people to check their registrations.
