Tropik Wood Industries Fiji Ltd has successfully negotiated a joint venture agreement to export woodchips for biomass to the Republic of Korea.
The agreement was reached following a meeting between Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Tropik Woods Faiz Khan and GIMCO Company Limited of Korea.
The joint venture agreement entails export of wood chips for biomass and the set-up of a stand-alone bio mass energy plant in rural areas and outer islands in Fiji.
Prime Minister Bainimarama thanked the two entities for the successful finalization of the deal and offered government’s full support to the joint venture.
According to Tropik Wood Chairman Mr. Faiz Khan, there was a demand for waste-wood fuel by GIMCO and Tropik Wood Industries was in a position to supply.
