PM to stand for elections

Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama has announced that he will stand for the elections.

He made the announcement to journalists while testing the tracks at the new ANZ Stadium in Suva a short while ago.

Bainimarama said he is confident that he will win and that is why he is going to contest the elections.

He also confirmed that he will form a political party to contest the elections next year

The Electoral system that the Constitution chooses only parties (not individuals) can win, so when he says he will win, it means the Party he forms will win - his name will not appear on the ballot papers. I hope he understands this.

He should have waited for the Coca Cola Games and then made the announcement.
