Road works cannot happen overnight, says Fiji Roads Authority chief executive officer Neil Cook.

Mr Cook said on Wednesday people should help find solutions instead of complaining.

Mr Cook was responding to comments made by the managing director of Parmod Enterprises Limited Parmod Chand, who said: “The Fiji Roads Authority and Department of National Roads are busy doing nothing”.

Mr Cook said he did not understand why Mr Parmod was complaining about the road rehabilitation project in the North.

“Mr Parmod should be aware that the roads cannot be fixed overnight.

“We will have a workshop in partnership with the North bus operators who will be given opportunities to speak their minds rather than writing complaint letters to FRA.

“We will try to fix the roads soon before the crushing season starts,” he said.

Mr Chand had expressed his concerns earlier that bus operators were concerned about operating in the rural areas because he claims nothing had been done about the roads.

“No matter what; hail, rain or storm, the bus services cannot be stopped; it is essential for the services to continue.”

Mr Cook said they were aware that many roads in the Northern Division were in bad condition.

all these public servants seem to do is to have lots of seminars so they can eat sandwiches and drink lots and do little.
