The Agriculture Ministry has confirmed it will not meet its quota of ginger exports to Australia.
Deputy Secretary for Agriculture Uraia Waibuta says Australia demands three thousand tonnes a year, which Fiji will find impossible to produce.
Waibuta adds ginger is a seasonal crop only harvested from August to October and they’re now in talks with Australian counterparts to send only five hundred tonnes a year.
A sample shipment of two and a half tonnes leaves next month.
